'Salvador Deli is an actual deli located on North Davidson Street in Charlotte's NoDa Art District. It's a very cool, funky little joint that often hosts live music and drum circles in it's front parking area during monthly Gallery Crawls.

With this painting I was attempting to convey the absurdity and carnival atmosphere that surrounded much of the recent Presidential campaign. It is really a painting about the perceptions that each of us have towards particular candidates, celebrities, and those who sit on the opposite side of the fence from our own beliefs and values. Many of these perceptions are instilled by the media while others are encouraged by the uninformed or ignorant.

Long dormant

my soul stirs and

I am inclined to write 

again

poetry.

Taking the long trek

down deep into the

heart of things

wrestling

with feelings 

ignoring blather

hoping to return

with something that

constitutes meaning

something of importance

something that will make

the effort worth the

folly.
